Building on a legacy

The roots of FBC Mancos go all the way back into the late 1800's when a small group of Christians decided to form a chruch.  The Rio Grande Southern went through the town back then and life was often hard and short.  But God was moving among the people and the Gospel was the power of salvation for those settlers just as it is for us now.

In 1899 the church officially became a Baptist church. The church has had it's ups and downs through the years, much like most of us have had in our own lives.  In 1950 the group became associated with the Southern Baptist denomination and has kept this connection throughout the last 70 years.

The main building that the church currently meets in was built in 1978 from logs donated by Wolf Creek Industries.  The log structure seems to fit this little town at the base of towering mountains.
